For the interior design of the restaurant Les Filles in downtown Brussels, architects Lhoas & Lhoas proposed to realize the dining tables following an open-source design from Enzo Mari's 1974 Autoprogettazione, a handbook describing furniture pieces that anyone can make using cheap, widely available materials (originally 10 cm-wide pine boards). Enzo Mari and other designers of his time developed a strong interest in Do-It-Yourself as a reaction to the ideology of furniture mass production.
