Stackable chair 'DSC 106' by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli (ca. 1965), Made of a wood veneer seat and backrest mounted on a steel structure.
The DSC 106 is an archetype of the chair as a system: stacking, interconnecting, with and without armrests, flip-up writing tops, seat and row markers, etc.
The design of the DSC 106 programme was driven by a logic of extreme flexibility regarding both production and use. At the heart of this system there are two elegantly designed brackets in polished die-cast aluminium. These castings (one of each, on either side of the chair) join everything together: the seat and backrest and the leg structure. The chair is built with only a few components easily replaceable.
