End grain parquet in afzelia wood from the former printing house of the Belgian National Bank (7 x 7 cm)
This parquet has been reclaimed from the former printing house of the Belgian National Bank in Brussels. The modernist building was designed by Marcel Van Goethem in 1950. More info here
End grain wood flooring has a high resistant to weight. It is manufactured by continuous cross-cuts in blocks which beautifully expose the annual growth rings on each piece. The parquet is made in exotic wood (afzelia/doussie) which offers great stability over time. Mechanical cleaning of mortar residues with quality sorting was carried out by our team in our workshop. The upper surface is generally smooth and uniform. The underside (not visible) is cleaned from mortar residue by mechanical sawing, which creates a slight relief to improve adhesion to the substrate. This parquet is not suitable for floor heating.
Each square meter contains ± 204 blocks.
Width | 7 cm (± 0,1 cm) |
Length | 7 cm (± 0,1 cm) |
| Thickness | 2,5 cm (± 0,2 cm) |
Condition: There are light chips and mortar traces on the edges and small dents and scratches on the surface. May have some yellow paint or tape residues on the upper surface. As shown on the images, there are some color and grain variations which is part of the end grain process. Needs to be cleaned and sanded for final installation. Due to variations in thickness, please consider that more sanding is required than with a new product.
The installation of this product should be carried out by a qualified craftsman. The blocks must be inspected and carefully selected during installation (around 5% of the delivered material has light variations in length, width and/or thickness - these blocks are therefore to be set aside and can be used at edges, to fill in gaps, etc). After installation, we advise customer to use a wax oil in order to protect wood.
The material is sold as is. We recommend customers to come at our physical shop and check before buying. We do not take any responsibility once the material is laid. As this batch is unique, we recommend taking a margin into account in order to complete your project.
Delivery/Pick-up packaging (pallets and pallet collars) is not included in the price.
