Douglas fir planks from the George Henri Playground designed by Suede 36

22/10/2024

Playground time! Gulliver keeps a watchful eye as we dismantle a maze of wooden fortifications, releasing piles of colorful Douglas fir decking. The playground of the Georges Henri park in Woluwé-Saint-Lambert was designed in 2008 by the architects of Suede36. Commissioned by Brussels Environment , it is a place that aims at stimulating imagination and letting children invent their own games.

After 15 years of use, the original wooden cladding showed some local damage that made maintenance of the playground too costly, so the administration decided to replace about 1000 m² of cladding with new wood. Although this type of damage was present on many pieces of wood, it usually affected less than 10% of the length of each board. So, after dismantling, we cut the damaged parts, removed the nails and recovered a unique material ready for a new use. This is child's play!

Section 14 x 3 cm, various lengths available between 80 and 170 cm (we shortened the boards to multiples of 10). Suitable for outdoor or indoor use. Rounded edges. Are you game for this unique reclaimed material ?
