Furniture by B-architecten from the Muntpunt library
Muntpunt is an epic reconversion of a curiously located office building from the 1970s. With slab-to-slab ceiling heights of only 251 cm, no one thought this building would escape total demolition. During the design competition in 2003, B-architects proposed a playful and gentle approach to the building, finding inventive ways to deal with the limited ceiling height: by creating double-height spaces, by concentrating the HVAC ducts behind large central bookshelf (leaving the ceilings completely bare - except for a layer of white fireproofing), and so on. The place quickly became one of the finest libraries in the city. After 12 years in use, some elements of the interior design are being adapted - including the colourful custom furniture we just received!
Thanks to Doorzon Architects and Confistruct for this collaboration!
